Ads for "make up to $75 an hour" can be found all the Internet. They promise that you can do online surveys in exchange for what seems like some very good money. Of course, it's not. No one makes this kind of money doing surveys, although there are real companies in the business doing legit surveys.

Is there such a thing? Yes. There are real companies that are in the marketing and advertising business and which are hired by large firms to work closely with consumers in order to get feedback on various products and services. And, yes, these survey companies do pay money to consumers who have registered with them.

However, you won't be making anywhere near $75 an hour. You might a few bucks a day. There are many companies who expect you to spend over a half hour answering questions in return for points.

Many companies pay in points instead of cash. However, you need thousands and thousands of points in order to get anything decent in return. One company gives away a $5.00 Starbucks card in exchange for 10,000 points, and this could take a year to build up with daily surveys.

One of the major drawbacks to doing these surveys is that you need to qualify for each one. Once you find companies to register with you will then start getting emails depending on your profile. For instance, if you are a 35 year old single white female with an income over $80,000 a year, you'll one type of survey. If you are an unemployed male over 60 with no post high school education, you'll get different surveys. It could be weeks between getting surveys to even try to qualify for.

However, there's no guarantee that even with this information you'll qualify. You could spend 20 minutes answering questions only to find out "sorry, you don't qualify". You wasted your time, and you won't make a penny.
